A&E DEPARTMENT ATTENDS VICTIMS OF:

- Road traffic accidents.
- Violent crimes.
- Accidents at home.
- Suicide attempts.
- Self-harming.
- Contact with toxic chemicals and radiation.
- Burns.
- Near drowning
- Hypothermia.
- Minor injuries: Sprains, cutgs and grazes.

A & E CONSIDERS AN EMERGENCY:

- Loss of consciousness.
- Heavy blood loss.
- Suspected broken bones.
- Chest pain lasting 15 minutes or more.
- Difficulty breathing.
- Overdose.
- Poisoning.

TRIAGE: In case of major incidents (terrorist attacks, large fires, multiple road traffic accidents) is to determine who is a priority and needs to be treated immediately and who can wait.
MEDICAL VOCABULARY: Bandages, a scalpel, morphine, aspirin, disposable gloves, thermometer, tweezers, a first aid manual, hypodermic needles, adhesive tape.
